Received this message within the past hour from BIS:
Update registration will resume today, Thursday, September 14th, at 1:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. We will activate the attendee registration link listed below at that time. This link will not be available on the BIS website. If the conference sells out, the link will default to an on-line waitlist registration form.

UPDATE UPDATE: As noted in the comments section for this post, Update sold out very quickly and the waitlist is now full.
I got an E-Mail from BIS this PM stating both lists were full.

The conference sold out in less than 1 hour and the wait list was full in the next 45 minutes. If you did not have a "date" with your computer promptly at 1pm est. chances are, you didn't get in.

BIS obviously is taking a page out of the DDTC/SIA handbook by making sure that only the reliable industry lackeys show up at its "industry wide" event.
Afterall, who wants inconvenient questions like "what's your statutory authority for imposing denial orders". (Hint: Under IEEPA, 50 USC 1705, there ain't none).

Rumor has it, that the venue was changed to accomodate 1,000 attendees (the previous venue accommodated 800). It will be interesting to see how many organizations send more than 2 individuals. I am sure that a good portion of large law firms, consulting groups and the major government contractors will have more than 5 people in attendance. I will make a pledge to all of those ECB'rs who didn't get in, to recommend that the BIS limit attendance by organization for future update conferences. Apparently, holding a similar conference in Ca. earlier this year did not help and of course, there are those China regs....
