Sanctions Take Hold as Western Hypocrisy on Uzbekistan Implodes

The EU has banned arms exports to Uzbekistan and will work up a list of Uzbek officials to be prohibited entry into Europe.  Not to be outdone, the State Department applauded the EU's sanctions and reminded everyone that the US was already withholding some aid from Uzbekistan.  And that was before the Senate voted to hold back on the rent for the Uzbek airbase from which the US military was recently evicted.
